From Chicago to the Balkans: How Your Donation Is Building a Safer Future for Balkan Children

Updated: 4 hours ago

See exactly where your donation is going

At Charity for Balkan Children (Chicago-based, Balkan-hearted), we believe every donor deserves a clear, measurable view of how their gift makes an impact.

Our current project has one clear goal:

Raise $21,000 to completely renew the furniture at the Radmila Nedić Kindergarten in Berane, Montenegro.

Here’s how your donation will be used:

  • New chairs and tables for safe, sturdy learning.

  • New beds for naptime, giving children the comfort and dignity they deserve.

  • Full transparency: once the project is completed, we will publish all receipts, supplier quotes, and photos of the installation directly on our website.

Timeline:

  • Fundraising phase: ongoing — every dollar matters.

  • Furniture production & delivery: starts immediately after we reach our goal.

  • Installation at the Kindergarten: within 4–6 weeks of delivery.

  • Reporting: before/after photos and receipts published within 1–2 weeks after completion.

When you give—from Chicago, the suburbs, or anywhere in the world—you are directly connecting with real children in a real classroom in Berane.

The children at the heart of the story

In Berane, every morning at the Radmila Nedić Kindergarten, little hands reach for crayons, paint, and books. Smiles fill the room as children play, learn, and rest.

But behind those joyful moments lies a quiet hardship: many chairs wobble, tables are chipped, and beds are worn out.

What should be a safe, inspiring space has become a challenge to maintain.

Imagine a four-year-old child sitting at a broken table, trying to draw their favorite animal but struggling because it shakes. Or trying to nap on an uncomfortable bed after a long morning of learning.

These small things matter. Because when a child sits safely and comfortably, they are free to explore, create, and dream.

When they rest on a proper bed, they feel cared for, respected, and valued.

That’s what your donation provides: not just furniture, but hope and dignity.

  • The need is urgent: children are using outdated, unsafe furniture today.

  • Every week of delay means more days of discomfort for these little learners.

  • Once we reach $21,000, we immediately begin production and delivery.

Your impact:

  • $50 = a new chair and rest mat for a child.

  • $500 = a full set of tables and chairs for a small group.

  • $5000 = a complete classroom transformation.

A message to our Chicago & Balkan-diaspora supporters

From our base in Chicago, we carry a deep connection between two homes: the bustling city where many of us live today, and the Balkan towns where our hearts remain.

Supporting this project means more than charity—it’s a statement of identity and unity.

  • For Chicago philanthropists: this is a tangible, transparent project with visible results.

  • For the Balkan diaspora: it’s a chance to give back to your roots and directly improve the lives of children who represent the future of our region.

Your support builds more than furniture—it builds pride, connection, and continuity between generations.
